At the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, we think children are special, so we go out of our way to make them feel that way. A team of highly skilled pediatric diabetologists pediatric nurse educators, and pediatric nutritionist treat children and their families. Children often get a toy at the end of each visit.
Since some visits entail seeing more than one clinician, the Center has child-friendly waiting areas to engage children of all ages. There are toys, interactive games, art supplies, computers, and VCRs to allow youngsters to relax or do homework.
The BD Family Learning Center, and interactive learning wall, outfitted with an array of multimedia equipment, allows children and their families to gather information targeted to their individual needs. The education wall also exhibits special diabetes topics that change every few months.
