You really only need a snack before you go to bed if your blood sugar is less than 150 mg/dL. If your BS is higher than 150 and you still want a snack, then have one that is low in carbohydrate so that it won't make your BS go up even further. Some examples of low carbohydrate snacks would be: Nuts, a mozzarella cheese stick, sliced up veggies, a cold cut "roll-up" like turkey or ham or even diet Jell-O.
