McDonald's can be tricky since most of their food is high
in both carbs and fat -- not a good combination since it can
lead to prolonged elevated blood sugars. The carbs make the
BS rise and the fat causes the BS to stay high since it makes
the food hang around in the stomach longer. Also, the portions
at a lot of fast food places are getting larger and larger
which makes this fat-carb effect even worse. So what's a person
to eat? Actually, a plain hamburger with a small fries is
not a bad choice. It's certainly not health food but if you
count the carbs up, it's about 3 carbs (1 bun + the fries).
The chicken sandwich isn't a bad bet either. The best thing
to do is to know how many carbs you are allowed at lunch or
dinner and then chose accordingly. You should also know that
all the carb info is posted on the wall at every McDonald's
and if it isn't, just ask for it!
