The Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center is the setting of a WABC-TV health segment on keeping type 2 diabetes in control without medication, linked to recent research in the Journal of the American Medical Association that says it’s possible with constant direction, support, diet and exercise.
“Behavior change for all of us is hard,” said Dr. Robin Goland, the Center’s co-director and the J. Merrill Eastman chair of Clinical Diabetes at Columbia University Medical Center. “This is a marathon, not a sprint. We all have health habits and we fall back on what might not be the best habits,"
The segment, written and reported by Dr. Jay Aldersberg, also featured two of the Berrie Center's patients, 13-year-old Audrey Lee and Natalie Robins who has lost and kept off 40 pounds over 13 year. Click here to watch.
