Congratulations to Tori Bender, the Berrie Center’s communications and outreach coordinator, who was recently profiled on linkedin.com in a series called “52 women 52 weeks”—or #52women52weeks on Twitter. The series features 52 interesting women working 52 unusual jobs in and around New York.
The series is the brainchild of businesswoman Randi Zuckerberg (sister of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg) whose interests (particularly on women in the workplace) have launched Zuckerberg Media for which she produced #52women52weeks. She has also been the spokesperson for Facebook and hosts her own Sirius XM Radio Show called Dot Complicated.
If you don’t know Tori, she has an important presence at the Berrie Center that helps with everything from special programs for our patients and spectacular fund-raising events, to the stories in the Berrie Center newsletter. “We hired Tori two years ago to build and organize our growing Berrie Center community of supporters,” said Berrie Center Co-Director Robin Goland, MD, J. Merrill Eastman Professor of Clinical Diabetes. “And she has done that and then some. We’re extremely lucky to have her.”
Tori—proud mom to twin kindergartners and a Berrie Center patient who has type 1 diabetes—answers Randi’s questions and talks about her job and what it’s like to have lived with type 1 diabetes for 28 years. Read On:
