The Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium

Dr. Robin Goland

Purpose of Study
To obtain blood samples from you and your family in order to try and discover how differences in the genes we inherit from our parents contribute to the risk for developing type-1 diabetes. If we find out more about these genes, we may be able to prevent diabetes in the future. 

Who is Eligible for This Study?

Age: Families in which there are at least two siblings (brothers and/or sisters) with Type 1 diabetes or Families of African-American or Mexican-American descent with one child with Type 1 diabetes.

Type of Diabetes: All members of the family including parents, children with and without type-1 diabetes.

Time Commitment
One time blood draw for each family member.

Reimbursement
There will be a small reimbursement for participation in the study and parking will be provided for the duration of the blood draw visit.
